SSAI’s goal is to offer an excellent scientific program and an outstanding exhibition of the latest treatment options and technology. Their theme is “Matters of the Heart”, and seek to cover most aspects of anaesthesia, intensive care, pain and emergency medicine.

A predictive model for estimating the duration of mechanical ventilation (MV) for patients admitted to intensive care units (ICU) in the U.S. was unveiled on June 11th at the Scandinavian Society of Anaesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine (SSAI) Congress. This is the first model to predict exact MV duration, and was shown to be conducive to benchmarking ICUs on this outcome. A full manuscript that describes this model in detail has been submitted for publication.
